Emily Ryder - Miss Railroad Days 2007

Miss Railroad Days 2007 is Emily Ryder, the daughter of Carman Lloyd and the granddaughter of Edwin and Brenda Anger. She is 17 years old and a lifelong resident of Durand. She is currently a senior at Durand Area High School where she played basketball for two years, volleyball for one year, softball for two years and tennis for one year. She is a memeber of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and of the three-time State Champion Marching Railroader Band. She has received seven division one ratings and two division two ratings at district and state solo and ensemble for band. She has received a section leader pin, best freshman award and the director's award. She is also a member of the Owosso Orchestra, the Key Club and the Mat Club. She has letters in softball, academics and band.

Her hobbies include playing sports, playing and writing music, playing with her new puppy and most of all being with her friends and family. Emily has been accepted to numerous colleges, but plans on attending Alma College on scholarships for music performance and academics. There she will be participating in the marching band and concert band. She plans on becoming a music teacher. Her sponsor is Hungry Howie's Pizza of Durand.

Attendant Meghan Myers

The Miss Railroad Days Attendant is Meghan Myers, the daughter of Ginny Myers. She is 17 years old and a lifelong resident of Durand. She is currently a senior at Durand Area High School where she has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, served in Student Government as secretary of her class for three years, varsity tennis for three years, JV softball for two years, varsity softball for one year and volleyball for two years. She was also in the Mat Club for one year and a part of the Prom Committee her junior year. She has been a volunteer with the Byron Boy Scouts and for a local Brownie Troop. She helps her church with their monthly newsletter and helps take tickets at sporting events at the school.

Last summer she was one of four students selected by the Durand Rotary to attend Leadership Camp. She received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award three times and was the Student of the month for February 2007. She enjoys playing and watching sports, shopping, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She plans on attending Michigan State University where she will pursue a degree in nursing. Meghan is sponsored by Salon 125 of Durand.
