Sponsored by Graff Chevrolet of Durand, The Mid-Michigan Chevrolet Dealers and Railroad Days, Inc. brings you the Eighth Annual Durand Railroad Days Rib Burn to be held on Saturday, May 20. This event is open to adults and is a qualifier for the 2023 GLBBQA Competitors series Team of the Year (TOY) for Rib Burns in Michigan. Prizes are awarded through fifth place. The cost is $50 per team with a limit of 30 teams. The fun will be held in the parking lot west of the downtown businesses near the water tower. Each contestant must supply their own ribs; Baby Back or Kansas City style spare ribs are allowed. All ribs are to be seasoned and cooked on-site after inspection, no pre-seasoning or marinating is allowed. Entries will be judged by trained judges for appearance, taste, and tenderness. Also happening on the same day and sponsored by Graff Chevrolet of Durand, The Mid-Michigan Chevrolet Dealers and Durand Meat Processing; the Eighth Annual KidsQue will be held in the Graff Chevrolet of Durand Event Tent near the clock tower, downtown Durand. Prizes are awarded through fourth place, with the cost being $10 per participant. Railroad Days will supply the grill, charcoal and display boxes with 1-1/2 lbs of ground chuck being supplied by Durand Meat Processing. Contestants supply their own cooking utensils, seasonings, buns (if wanted) and garnishments. Each contestant will make three burgers with the best two being submitted for judging.
